Sssshhhh...It's a Secret!

I was talking to my mom on Sunday, and she said I really needed to put more pictures on my blog of things I've been creating lately. The battery charger for my camera went AWOL (in a box that still hasn't been unpacked from our move this summer, I assume) and I ran out of charged batteries...no batteries, no pics. So I went to Fred Meyer last night and bought another charger that is more compact and travel friendly, anyway. Here ya go, Mom! =P

At the school where I teach, there's a Secret Santa event every year for the two weeks before Christmas Break. My goal this year is to give her as many things I've handmade as I can. Saves money, means more to the giver/receiver and it's FUN!

I started with Courtney's crayon box tutorial to create the boxes from this post. Inside one of the red ones, I put a pretty spool of ribbon in her favorite color (blue). In the second red one, I put some snowflake and poinsettia stickers. I also made one more (below) using glittery white cardstock and embellished with the blue snowflake paper. For this one, I decided to use eyelets and close the box with silver cord. I put in a bunch of little tags I punched from my Cuttlebug using Sizzlit dies and threaded the same cord through them that closes this box.

Next, I went on to a 2-5-7-10 box (tutorial is on SCS). This was really fun once I got it right. I used blue cardstock and stamped the snowflake background image with dune colored ink from my Color Box Queue. It's hard to see, but I used wavy blade scissors to add a bit of interest to the flap. My first attempt at this box ended up becoming the tags I put in the crayon box because I cut the wrong panels away leaving an un-foldable box (yeesh!). I guess everything happens for a reason! I made the tag by layering white cardstock with more of the blue cardstock I stamped, then stamped the "SS" and snowflakes. Can you see the little rhinestones I added to the snowflake centers? Gotta love a little bling!

Since this box is stamped with a snow background, I think I'll enter it in the Stamp Something Challenge, "Snow".

I have one more crayon box that will hold some simple "Thank you" cards and envelopes, but I'm not done with the cards, yet. I'll post that picture later. I'm also working on some mini pizza boxes and gift card holders to share later, too.

Thanks for stopping by to look. If you'd like to keep up with my posts, why not become a follower? You can click over here to the right. --->
