Sugar Creek Hollow Blog Hop...Showing my true colors

Welcome to the Sugar Creek Hollow Design Team blog hop! Every day this week, two of us will introduce ourselves and show you some of the projects we've been working on for Sugar Creek Hollow. If you love vintage, shabby or primitive, Sugar Creek has what you want!

I am so honored and excited to serve on the Sugar Creek design team. I LOVE primitive and country designs, but there are very few digi stamps in this particular style. When I heard about Sugar Creek Hollow, I knew I HAD to apply for this team!

I love the look of vintage projects, but I'm really quite at a loss how to make it look right when I try vintage-style projects. But I grew up around quilts, farms, rodeos and country music, so I have a great sense of what that's all about! In fact, before I became a stamper/papercrafter I was a quilter. I grew up going to quilting bees with my Granny and eventually taught myself how to quilt and sew as an adult (yeah - as a kid, I was too much the tomboy to submit to sewing/quilting lessons...my loss!) I hope to showcase as many of the primitive and country images Sugar Creek offers as I can!

Speaking of country...Tracy provided three awesome quilt-theme digi stamps for us to play with this week. I love the traditional blocks and colors best, so my eyes nearly popped out when Tracy gave us these images! This card is actually four copies of the same digi stamp, and I "pieced" it entirely on my computer with some digi papers I got from Serenity Sheri's Scraps (she has some AWESOME freebies here). Once the block was pieced, I simply copied the entire block, pasted three copies and put them in this four-patch setting. Because these are digital, I could have done just one large block, or I could even use MORE blocks to create a larger quilt. That's the beauty of digi stamps!

I put the third image in the set on the inside of the card at 65% transparent to create a watermark effect. You could make it even lighter with a higher transparency and put it anywhere you like.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Be sure to stop over at Sarah's blog to meet her, too! And remember to visit Sugar Creek Hollow every Friday for a freebie image; make sure you become a follower to get all the latest freebies, news and releases!

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
