Let's do the {ippity} hop!

It's Monday, so that means it's time for another {ippity} blog hop! Be sure to visit the {ippity} blog to get the full list of participants!

Today's card is simple one with a little paper piecing for the {ippity} challenge this week. Note to self: the bird is a smaller stamp that does NOT do well with this kind of piecing! What was supposed to be a quick card ended up taking much longer because I tried to piece it. I'm not a big fan of that technique anyway unless it's SUPER simple. Chalk it up to the super long days in Alaska, I guess! =D

Thanks for visiting today! Now you're off to ~~Elisabeth~~ to see what she's cooked up!

Doodle Dragon Challenge

Hello, again! I'm sure some of you may have wondered if I was still on the Doodle Dragon design team since it's been so long since I've done a DDS card, but I just took a little hiatus - I'm back! There will be no new releases this summer, but be sure to check Dustin's blog for freebies occasionally and the challenges are still going strong!

This week, we'd like to see you patriotic creations! With the 4th coming up soon, I'm sure you can cook up party favors, table decorations, kids' games or anything you please. Just use a Doodle Dragon image and post your card with a direct link back to your blog post with your creation. Have fun with this one!

I made a card using the Too Much Fairy Bear from a while back and a sketch from Midnight Madness. What could be yummier than a basket full of red, white and blue cuppies?!?! I colored with Prismas & OMS, then used up some scraps that are nearly overflowing my scrap tray. A little embossing on the background papers were all I needed to add a little interest.

So let's see what you've got! Until next time...

FWF...thanks.

Hello, friends! I hope that you are ready for the weekend, 'cuz I AM! To start it off right, here's a little stamping goodness. If you would like to see more, you can start at the Unity blog to see all the participating blogs. Remember that there's a blinkie hidden on one of them (sorry, not here!); find it, leave a comment, and you could be stalking the mailman for some new Unity!

I think "simplify" is becoming a major theme in my life at this moment. More and more of my cards are coming up CAS or close to it, like this one. I got my inspiration from this card at Jo's blog. I don't have any burlap, but I do have an {ippity} burlap stamp. I went for the mottled look on the flower by inking it first with a light blue, then inked around the outside with a darker blue, and finally carefully inked the stem. The pointy end of Memento Dew Drop ink pads made the job much easier than I thought it would be. A little sentiment and a punched edge finish the card!

Okay, I'm off to get the rest of my chores done so I can play away the weekend - have a good one!

Friends With Flair and a challenge

It's finally Friday, so that means it's time for a Friends With Flair blog hop! I think I'm dead-last on the list, so if you missed all the other beautiful creations, start over at the Unity blog.

I have a card today that reminds me of my Granny. She was a quilter, and loved the Depression-era quilts that surrounded her childhood. This October Afternoon paper reminded me of those quilts. To give the card a worn feel, I inked the edged of the papers. I used the sketch for this week's challenge over at the Unity forum.

Has it really been that long? (and a cool blog hop)

Summer in Alaska is short. TOO short. I had hoped to start blogging with new cards several times a week once school ended, but this year has been soooooo busy. I think I'm finally free of commitments for a while, but ya never know!

So, while I still hope to get back to cards and blogging regularly, I want to at least let you know that High Hopes Stamps have added another new artist to their lineup - Melissa Jenkins! If you haven't met her cast of characters yet, you gotta visit her blog! But better yet, play in the blog hop High Hopes is throwing in her honor on Friday, June 18th! They're releasing the first set of her images, and they will be ca-ute, I'm sure! And as per usual, there will be giveaways - cool! So head over and get some eye candy!
