Week of Unity Day 1...comment candy!

ANOTHER week of Unity?!?! You betcha! I love my Unity stamps and they haven't had enough love lately, so I'm hosting another week of Unity projects. Leave me a comment each day for a chance to win a Unity single of your own! I'll use Random.org to pick a day and then a comment, so make sure you comment EVERY day!

Today I'm sharing a very simple one-layer card using a technique I've never tried before called chalk popping. Maybe you've heard of it? You stamp your image with VersaMark, then use chalks to go over the image. The chalk sticks to the VersaMark. I chose to rub a little harder on this project so that some color would show up within the outline. Because this medium gives such a soft image, I also let the chalks stray outside the lines a little, too.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a marvelous Monday!

Whimsy Stamps Challenge: Boy/Girl

Monday = Whimsy Stamps Challenges! And did you see over the weekend that they are releasing some new images today? Go get them at the store!

This week, we want to see either a boy card or a girl card! I'm usually pretty good about making cards girly or bright & bold, but a distinctly male card is a bit harder to me. I rely on masculine papers, for sure, and change the embellishments I use so they don't come off as feminine.

I used some wonderful Basic Grey paper for this card, used my ticket punch to add a little interest to the corners. The brads and buttons are BG, too, but from the Porcelain collection - nice match! The inside is lined, too - I know...WOW! I almost never do that!  =D  I also used the sketch from SCS's World Card Making Day challenges.

Have a terrific start to the week, and thanks for coming by today!

Welcome to World Card Making Day

Welcome! Thank you for stopping by today! There are oodles of cardmakers participating in the big hop today; just click the logo above to see who's playing along!

The card I'm sharing with you features one of my all-time favorite images by Dustin Pike at Doodle Dragon Studios. I used some Debbie Mumm papers I picked up from Joann's a few weeks ago - LOVE these fall colors and patterns! I colored the image with Prismas & OMS, then finished the card with a nice black satin ribbon.

Make sure you come back on Monday for my Whimsy Stamps post, and also I'm hosting a whole week of Unity images with a chance for blog candy! Just pop over and leave a comment!

Have a great time blog hopping - see you again soon!

Friends with Flair Friday!

Hello again! I not only have a card for you today, but some news, too! One of the Unity addicts at SCS couldn't complete her week of Unity next week, so I get to take over her spot. Watch for my Unity posts all week beginning on Monday to get a chance for new Unity rubber!

Alright, on to my card for today. I made this one for the Unity Bachelor Bro Challenge this week. I just got my Hodge Podge of Happiness kit yesterday and couldn't wait to ink it up. I went with a brown ink this time and tried a new technique: overlapping the sentiment and the main image. A Stamp-a-ma-jig was soooooo helpful for this!  =D  I also used this week's CardPatterns sketch.

Thanks for visiting. Remember to come back on Monday for a whole week of Unity!

A medieval Doodle Dragon release!

Today is release day at Doodle Dragon Studios! You can get more info and see the design team creations over at Dustin's blog.

I really love Dustin's dragons, so when you see the full release today, you'll see why I nearly flipped! It's been a while since his last dragon image, so I was so thrilled to see a BUNCH of his dragons making their debut! Here's my card:

I decided to keep it pretty simple and use up some scraps from my scrap tray. I really love this line from DCWV. I've only had time to use a few of the papers, but am dying to have more time to play with them. Instead of the usual matting, I decided to turn the mat 90 degrees and let the dragon's hands hang out of the frame so I could tuck the sentiment underneath. This sentiment is actually from High Hopes, but it was perfect for this card!

Inside, I put the rest of the sentiment and lined it with more of the paper from the front. A few rhinestones add a little sparkle and finish the labels off nicely.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for my usual Friday post. You never know if I will have a special suprise!

You know what's coming on Saturday, right? World Card Making Day! I plan to have a post up in honor of the day, then starting on Monday, I will have another whole week showcasing another of my favorite stamp companies with a chance to win some new rubber, plus a design team card to share. Woohoo! Lotsa stuff happenin' in my neck of the woods this next week!

Thank for your visit today, and I hope to see you tomorrow!
