Holy Smokes! A really late Friends With Flair

I almost forgot all about FWF today! We had such a nice, relaxing day yesterday that I totally neglected my stamp room. Then today, we got up early and did a thorough house cleaning in preparation for Christmas decorating. It wasn't until about an hour ago that I remembered I was supposed to post. So sorry!

Without further delay, here's my card. I used the snowman and sentiment from the November Stampin' Store Kit for this card. I CASEd Maria Gurnsey, who just made the fourth member of the {ippity} design team. My card didn't come out quite as lovely as hers, but it was a fairly quizk one.

Hubby is calling for some dinner, so I gotta fly!

Happy weekend!

A Super Sale at Doodle Dragon starts TODAY!

ETA: I had a whopper of a day and forgot to post this earlier this morning. So sorry! Head over quick to get in on the deal!

Dustin is offering a fantastic price for his digis! He's resurrected his retired digis and added a bunch more for a mega sale of gigantic proportions! Head over to his blog for details, or go to the shop now!

My card uses one of the new digis in the super sale. I needed a quick card, and this image was such a breeze to color with my chalks. I paired it with some scraps I still have in my scrap tray.

Have a great day, and a Happy Thanksgiving!

Penny, meet CPS

It has been FOREVER since the last time I got to play in a Penny Black Challenge. This week was "Winter Wonderland," and I happened to have this cute little snowman from a PB swap. I used CPS Sketch 143, too.

I started with a white card blank and some Cosmo Cricket papers. Once I got the papers arranged and the image cut down to the size I wanted, I pulled out my chalks to color. To add a little sparkle, I painted on some Icicles Twinkling H2Os. It's hard to see the shine, but it's on his headband and underneath him.

Have a great day, and stay warm!

Friends With Flair is...wonderful

Welcome to this week's FWF! I am constantly amazed at how Unity keeps coming out with gorgeous images month after month. When I joined their kit of the month several months ago, I thought to myself, "It's a really good deal, and if there are images I don't like I can always opt out for a month or two." I didn't realize then how hard it would be to resist all the gorgeous stamps, and now I'm a store kit member, too. Sheesh! Talk about addictions!

I decided this week to ink up two images from the October Stampin' Store Kit, {wonderful...you}. I saw a nifty tutorial on SCS called the "blurred vision" technique and thought I'd give it a go on the leafy branch image. It didn't blur as much as I thought it would (maybe 'cuz I let the ink dry?), but it did change the color slightly. The sentiment is the same ink as the leafy branch, but do you see how the leaves are slighty lighter?

Have a great weekend - less than a week to TURKEY DAY!

FWF - a CASE

Remember that the brand-new {ippity} stamps are shipping TODAY - woohoo! If you want details on how to get your hands on them, please click here to go to my {ippity} blog. My special offer ends tomorrow! And before you leave, would you vote on your favorite {ippity} kits? You can see them all here.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled activities. ;)

I gotta tell ya; there is such a wealth of talent out in the blogosphere, and sometimes it just whacks me in the face before I knew it was there! I follow the CLASSroom blog by Ellen Hutson, and a few days ago a post jumped out at me. It featured four cards using the same stamps, punches, papers and embellishments to create four unique cards. I love kraft and earthy colors, so I KNEW I had to CASE them. Two of today's cards are just a couple of the cards I'm working on - I hope to have eight all together once I'm done.

The base is a cream cardstock that I inked with a sponge dauber around the edges to soften it. Then I stamped some background stamps on kraft paper. The sentiment is stamped on the same cream cardstock with the edges inked on it, too. A couple of buttons, and I'm done! I entered these cards in the Flourishes Favorite Things challenge.

supplies ~ cream & red cardstock: The Paper Company, kraft: Bazzill, stamps: Unity Tea Time Pattern, Distressed Dots, Baby Boy Plaid, Worn Music, Poinsettia from Hodge Podge of Happiness kit, sentiment: Unity Bright & Merry Winter Wishes

The second card is a really simple. I really like the poinsettia from the Hodge Podge of Happiness kit, and I thought it would make simple card to make up. I think this just might be the card I mass produce for Christmas this year, but we'll see. Some scoring and a single mat under the image keeps it clean and simple. I've entered this one in this week's CPS challenge.

{ippity}: a special offer on a new line of Unity stamps

Unity Stamp Company announced on Thursday that they are launching a new line of stamps available only through private entrepreneurs. You won't find them in any online or brick-and-mortar stores - only from individual dealers.

Unity makes high-quality, deeply etched rubber stamps. They have thousands of images with styles varying from cute & whimsical to classy and elegant. They have images that are suitable for scrapbookers and card makers alike. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these stamps! If you've never used Unity before, you are in for a real treat!

The kits shown on the right are what is available right now (click the picture to see a larger view). No one has these images in hand yet since they are SO new, so no one can offer immediate shipping yet. That said, I have a special pre-order offer. For a limited time, I'm selling each kit for $15 each, and that INCLUDES SHIPPING. No extra shipping charges will apply. Normally, these kits will sell for $18-25, depending on the kit, so this is a pretty good deal IMO. This offer will expire on Saturday, November 14 at 10pm AKST. After that time, the kits will sell at a higher price and shipping charges will be applied.

If you like all the kits, then I have an even better deal for you! You can get every single kit shown, PLUS I'll throw in a pack of 6 sheets of My Mind's Eye 12x12 paper (see left) for just $99! That's a savings of $21, and the paper is FREE! This would normally cost you $175 + shipping, so you'll get a FANTASTIC discount on this pre-order.

For now, I'm offering these kits only to residents of the US. If you would like to place an order, email me (click the link) which kits - or the entire set -, how many you want and your PayPal account name for the money request. Please put "ippity order" in the subject line. If you live outside the US and would like to see me make an offer for you, please email me with "international ippity" in the subject. If there's enough interest, I'll make an offer for international residents.

And if the demand is high enough, I'll make offers like this at each new release (about every three months) so you can get the best and greatest {ippity} images at a discounted price!  =D

Hope to hear from you soon!

FWF and Christmas

Another Friday, and another Unity Friends With Flair! I think today's card is my first ever Christmas card with Unity stamps! And my inspiration came from a quilt I saw in a recent Joann's catalog. You may start seeing quilt themes pop up on my cards soon. I love quilting, but don't normally have time to devote, plus my craft room isn't set up for sewing right now. I gotta change that!

More scraps from my scrap tray make the majority of this card. I embossed the ornament with silver ep, then watercolored it in two shades of green. The stars are Unity, too, but I didn't want the pattern of the stamp to show, so I turned the stamped side to the back.

Since there's a little shine & sparkle, I entered this card Our Daily Bread Designs challenge. Have a terrific weekend!

Toad-ally Tasty Doodle Dragon release

Well, it's official. Doodle Dragon Studios has gone to the toads...literally! Check out all the new images over at Dustin's blog, and you'll see what I mean.

My card will give you a hint...

Would you believe that I still have Christmas scraps in my scrap tray from LAST YEAR? I decided that this year I would try to use them up first before I try any new paper (and I have a ton of it I really want to try!)  ;D

I added some glitter glue to the snowflake, the snow under the frog and on his hat. It might be hard to see in the photo. And a tip: the snowflakes with brad centers kept wanting to fall apart since it's glitter paper. Next time, I'm going to back it with another sheet of scrap paper so that they don't "flake out" on me again. ::groan:: I know. Corny. But I couldn't help myself!

So much sparkle had to go into a challenge! I entered this card Our Daily Bread Design's challenge. Thanks for visiting today - have a great day!

Whimsy Challenge: 'Round & 'round

Welcome to another Whimsy Monday! Today marks my final challenge with Whimsy Stamps Challenges. I really enjoyed my tenure, but it is time for me to move on and try some other things. I'm taking a breather for a bit - other than my other DT obligations to Dustin, I'm going to create just for the fun of it. I've missed that.

This week, we want to see circles on your cards! I went all out this week! A circle card with some circle patterned paper and a rather circular face - wow! I don't think I've gone that nuts with a theme in a while! I colored in this cute little pig with Prismas & OMS. Ya gotta love it when an image only needs a couple of colors - a dream to color!

I used my largest circle nestie for the card base, then covered it with dsp. Then I used two smaller nesties for the image and mat. To finish off the card, I pulled out some bridal flowers I got from Michael's and dressed them up with some small pink pearls.

Thanks for coming to visit today - have a fantastic Monday!

Unity Bachelor Bro Week 7

I can't believe it's been so long since I last blogged. Between busy, internet issues and not feeling well for a few days, time passed faster than I thought! I hope that doesn't become a habit - too much to do!  =D

I was only able to play in three of the Bachelor Bro challenges at Unity, but it has definitely been fun! This time around, they asked us to use black, green, orange and purple to make a treat bag, tag or box. Since I'm not much for Halloween, my project came out as a harvest theme.

I took a completely different take on this week's Card Patterns sketch to create a tag and pocket. I used some DCWV scraps from my scrap tray and added these gorgeous images from Unity's Simple Blessings kit. I was NOT expecting such large stamps, but they worked beautifully for this project! To make the sentiment pop a little more, I heat embossed it.

Want to learn a trick I discovered (or maybe someone else already discovered it - I found out by experimenting). I really wanted to use my Memento ink for this project to emboss the sentiment, but it's a dye ink and won't hold the ep since it dries so fast. I thought, "I wonder if stamping in VersaMark first, THEN in the dye ink would allow the ep to stick? Would the VersaMark transfer to the paper, or only the dye ink?" So I tried it. I inked up my stamp with VersaMark, then inked in the Memento, then stamped on my paper. Quickly hit it with some clear embossing powder.....it worked! You can't imagine my elation! Now I can emboss with ANY dye ink - woohoo!

::ahem:: Okay, back to my regular programming.  ;D  Some raffia to finish off the card was all I needed to give it more of that fall/harvest/homey feel.

Have a terrific day, and thanks for coming by for a visit today!
